Trick or Treat!

I want to ring the doorbell all by myself!
thank you Mandy!unfortunately, not many of our friends were home :(
trick or treat Grandma!

this cool bunny always has to wear her sunglasses in the car!

We went around to a few houses tonight to let Avery trick or treat a little bit. Grandma had a great goodie sack for her with way more than just candy! Then we came home early to pass out candy to our new neighbors--we wanted them to know someone finally lives in this house and we have good candy!

Playgroup Pumpkin Party

Avery and I always go to Stay and Play at Jenks on Fridays. She loves it! Today they had a "Pumpkin Party"--can't say "Halloween" in public school, you know. :) The kids got to dress up and have snacks. I'm not sure, but I think this was Avery's first Oreo! I can't believe I haven't given her one before, but I can't remember that I have! She especially enjoyed drinking out of the juice box. It's the simple things when you're two. (Oh, in case you're wondering what happened to the ladybug costume, nothing. We borrowed two from Avery's cousin Hayden and since she wore the ladybug twice already, we thought we'd do the bunny today!)

Carving Pumpkins

The other day we finally bought two large pumpkins for the porch and tonight after dinner Craig, Avery, and I all carved them. Well, Avery helped dig out about 3 seeds, then she just ran around the yard while Craig did most of the work and then he and I each carved a face on one. Avery's too little for knives anyway! But she did enjoy the candle part and at first she thought it was someone's birthday. I guess she thinks candles are only for birthday cakes. When I told Craig we were ready for the candle, she went inside and got a birthday cake candle out of the pantry and brought it to me! It was so cute. Then she just wanted to blow them out because that's her favorite part of birthdays! Anyway, here are our two smiling faces to grace the porch on Halloween.

Pumpkin Patch 2008

just had to show this comparison of my baby from 8 months to 32 months (ok 2 1/2!)

Well, this was our 3rd year to take Avery to the Carmichael's Pumpkin Patch. Avery has been talking about going for months ever since she saw pictures from when she was a baby in my scrapbook back in the summer! So she was very ready to go! Our MOPS group planned a day out with the kids today so Avery got to see a few of her friends there. It wasn't too chilly which was good. Avery had a pony ride, fed the goats, had a hay ride, and got to pick out a couple of pumpkins to take home! She had a great time and has been talking about it all day!

Harvest Moon Carnival

This past weekend we were in Texas for a visit and Avery got to attend the Harvest Moon Carnival at Sabine Elementary! This is where I went to school and my sisters and I went to the carnival every year! I'm not sure that Avery was really into the games, but she did like giving the lady her ticket and getting the candy! This is really the first time she has gotten to have candy on Halloween and I think she was really excited by the amount of it!

Glory Glory Hallelujah!

For some reason Avery was singing "glory, glory" over and over last night when she and Craig were here by themselves. Craig wasn't sure what she was singing, but he thought it sounded like Battle Hymn of the Republic so he helped her add Hallelujah and they listened to a couple You Tube videos of the song. Now ALL DAY she has been singing "glory, glory, Hallelujah!" over and over and over! Here is a video clip of her singing it this morning and I have no idea what the last line is where she sings about "open the door"??? I guess she thought the original version wasn't good enough. :) (Sorry the video quality is bad, I have no idea why.)

Halloween Party

Our Sunday School class decided to have a playdate party for the mommies and kids once a month and have it around a holiday theme if possible. So tonight we went to Christy's and the kids got to wear their costumes and have Halloween treats! First they ate their hot dogs and macaroni and cheese, then they had pumpkin cookies, mini cupcakes, and caramel apples--yum! (Oh yeah, the mommies shared in the goodies, too!) All the kids were so cute!

Pop's Birthday

This past weekend my parents were here for a visit and it was also my dad's birthday. We made him a big lemon cake (one of our favorites!) and Avery helped blow out the candles. I think that was her favorite part! We are so blessed to have a wonderful Pop and Nona who stayed all weekend to help us do some big jobs around our house and love on Avery a ton! Thank you Pop and Nona!

Falling Out!

Of course right after I sit down last night and catch up on all of my posts, there is another post-worthy picture! When I went to check on Avery last night before I went to bed, this is what I saw. I ran to get Craig and the camera because I thought it was so funny! She has never fallen out of her bed or even come close, but apparently she had the wiggles in her sleep last night. She was zonked out completely and never even woke up when I scooted her back in and re-covered her. I know it looks like it was day time, but the flash on the camera was really bright! Even that didn't wake her up!

The Fair

Last week, Craig took half a day off and we took Avery to the fair after her nap. Let me just say that we had the best time ever! I enjoy the fair just because of the food and some of the exhibits, but I haven't gotten to experience it through the eyes of my daughter before! This is the first year she was old enough to enjoy it and did she ever! Of course Mommy couldn't ride any rides because of my baby bump, but Avery and Daddy got kiddie ride wrist bands and enjoyed several rides! Avery had so much fun and she enjoyed (with Mommy & Daddy) a corn dog, a big corn on the cob, french fries, a funnel cake, and a big apple dumpling with ice cream on top! YUM!! We stayed until about 9:30 and even though my feet and back were killing me after walking around for this long, it was totally worth it! Avery is still talking about it and I can't wait to take her back next year! They really did have a lot of areas that were just for kids and she asks to go to the fair about every other day! It's hard to explain to a 2 1/2 year old that the fair only comes once a year! Bummer!

Family Fun Night

Recently our church had a Family Fun Night at the Jenks High School softball park. They had Jupiter Jumps for the kids and even had a T-ball inning for them to play in! We ate hot dogs and pizza and the kids had a blast running around and jumping their hearts out! We had a good time visiting with our friends and the brave ones went out and played some adult softball! We just love our church family and can't imagine life without them or our friends there! Here are a few pictures of Avery and some of her friends.

Moving Day

When Craig brought home the giant U-Haul on moving day, Avery thought it was awesome! She really wanted to help push the first few boxes to the back of the truck and after a few of those, she was done with that! She loved playing in the truck and Grandpa brought donuts the first couple of mornings that we moved, so she got to eat her first one in the big empty truck. She loved climbing up and down the ramp from the ground to the truck and when the guys were on break, she would roll her ball up and down the ramp, too. It was a fun experience for her and I am so happy with how well she has adjusted to our new house. She has not had any problems whatsoever and loves the new house. We love it, too, although I will love it more when some of the updates are done! Sorry for those of you waiting for pictures! Our granite countertops are going to be in soon and the wallpaper in the kitchen is coming down hopefully next weekend, so when I have some semi-before/after pics, I will post some!

Daddy's Birthday

Having a frosting beater is the best! (Or as Avery says "crosting"!!)

I hope you can see in this picture how white her face is from flour!!

OK, I was finally able to offload all the pictures that have been piling up on the camera, so we're going to have to go back about a month to catch up on posts! Ignore the date on the pictures because somehow it is wrong.

September 12th was Craig's birthday and Avery and I made a few special things for him! That morning we made him cinnamon rolls (yes, Pillsbury from the can--one of Craig's favorite breakfasts!) Unfortunately he had to go to work, but that afternoon, we made Craig's favorite cookies...Old Fashioned Sour Cream Cookies. He likes things plain and that's what these are! We added frosting and sprinkles to jazz them up a little bit, and here are a few pictures of Avery helping Mommy make them. She tasted flour that day, too! I warned her it would not taste good, but she had to try it for herself (imagine!) and it ended up more on her face and apron than anywhere else! For dinner, we made chicken enchiladas, Nona-style, (actually Nona was there to help, so that was even better!) and enjoyed birthday cookies for the next couple days. Craig is now 28 and that scares me a little--that's not too far away from 30!!
